Arizona Surrogate Mother Gives Birth to Quintuplets
By David Schwartz
PHOENIX (Reuters) - An Arizona woman who agreed to be a surrogate mother for a couple unable to have children gave birth to five baby boys on Tuesday at a Phoenix hospital, officials said.
Teresa Anderson delivered the rare quintuplets by Caesarean section within five minutes and without complications at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center. All five boys were reported to be doing well in an intensive care unit.
Doctors said the quintuplets may be a record for a surrogate mother. "There are no statistics kept on the number of quintuplet births to surrogate mothers," said Dr. John Elliott, who delivered the babies. "Suffice to say, it's incredibly rare."
"I feel great," said Anderson, 25, a Mesa, Arizona woman, in remarks released by the hospital. "I thought it was amazing. It was just a wonderful blessing to see those babies and hear their cries."
Anderson was implanted with five embryos, but did not expect all to be viable.
The newborns -- Enrique, Jorge, Gabriel, Javier and Victor -- range in weight from 3-pounds, 7-ounces to 3-pounds, 15-ounces. Javier will have to undergo surgery later for a rare heart defect.
Parents-in-waiting Luisa Gonzalez and Enrique Moreno issued a statement thanking Anderson -- who waived her $15,000 fee because of the cost the parents will have to bear with their new family of seven.

Very nice of you to help Juli, Yara... and Juli, I'm sure that, even without Yara's help, you would have been able to understand the meaning of the word perfectly. Leo
Great history! I haven’t ever read about surrogate mother before. I have just seen one soap opera in the “Globo” Television, have you remembered?? I think the name was “barriga de aluguel “. I loved it. And I remember that the surrogate mother wanted stay with the child, was soooo confusing. Anyway, I think that this action, to “borrow” your body, to realize a dream of someone that can’t have baby is so beautiful. Of course, some people just do this for money, others for love, other for both. In this case I think have started because the money, but finished with love over the money.
This couple had a big, huge gift of God. They received 5 healthy children instead 1 and a surrogate mother who beyond to take care of their children for 9 moths, gave up of the money that she should have received, just to help this big family start new life.
I can’t lie, I felt so jealous when I read this history. I look forward to having a baby, I have dreamt about twins, but a quintuplet is amazing. I don’t intent to have 3 or more babies together, but if happens it will be great.

Thats amazing!!! We think that an unusual situation...The parents of this 5 boys will have a lot of problems when this kids grows up...hehehe...it will be very expensive to create them.
Five babies?? Their parents have so many work to do!! It must be amazing to these couple that couldn´t have babies receive five at the same time..I´ve never listened anything like that, it´s really a rare situation!!
